Dense fused alumina for refractories 1-3mm 3-5mm 5-8mm

Dense alumina for refractories also called dense fused alumina for refractories, is a high-end refractory material made from the reduced fusion of high purity industry alumina powder and reducing agent in an electric arc furnace. Its main content is α-aluminum-oxide(α-Al2O3) and looks dark gray or light gray. The fused alumina through cooled down, crushed, and graded into grits/grains suitable for refractory applications. Its Al2O3 content is over 98%; the porosity rate is less than 4%. It is acid and alkali-resistant, slag-resistant, abrasion-resistant, anti-heat shock, and has stable chemical content. Dense fused alumina is widely used in the steelmaking industry, metallurgical, ceramic, glass, construction materials, shaped refractory and unshaped refractory; the available size is 0-1mm, 1-3mm, 3-5mm, 5-8mm.

Dense fused alumina is a high-grade refractory material with a main crystal phase of more than 98% and porosity of less than 4%; it has the advantages of good acid and alkali resistance, and good wear resistance under high temperature, corrosion resistance, and volume stability. It is widely used in metallurgical, petrochemical, building materials, ceramic, and other industries.

Application of dense fused alumina for refractories 1-3mm, 3-5mm, 5-8mm:

  1. Blast furnace runner castable
  2. Ladle castable
  3. Ramming materials, prefabricated parts, and other amorphous refractory materials
  4. Refractory brick, permeable transfer, nozzle seat brick, and other qualitative refractory materials
  5. Refractory materials for ceramics, cement, glass, and other industries

Dense Fused Alumina(FAQ)

Coarseness of the abrasive mineral:

Commonly referred to as “grit”, this number designation is determined by the amount of abrasive mineral that can pass through a mesh screen with specific size openings. Therefore, a 40 grit abrasive particle will pass through a mesh screen that has 40 openings in one linear inch. Consequently, the higher

What is the d50 value?

The d50 indicates the mean particle size. d50 means that 50% of particles fall within the specified grain size.

What is melting vs. Sintering?

When processing minerals in a furnace, materials can either be melted or sintered.  When materials are melted during the production process the minerals go from a solid state, to a liquid state, then is re-solidified during the cooling process creating uniformity in the chemistry throughout the entire batch. The sinerting process
